This Open Forum session will highlight practical strategies to address ongoing challenges, focusing specifically on how traditional evaluation methods may hinder gender equality and how they can be reformed to create a more inclusive research environment.
Ylann Schemm will present key data from the 2024 Elsevier Gender report, followed by a distinguished panel of research leaders. The panel will explore innovative approaches to reshaping evaluation processes within research institutions, aligning them with gender equality goals. Central themes will include promoting career advancement for women, enhancing women's participation across the research-to-innovation value chain, and creating institutional support for multidisciplinary and impactful research.
Special attention will be given to the role of Gender Equality Plans (GEPs) and lessons from the MINDtheGEPs project, emphasizing how structural and cultural reforms can challenge entrenched biases in evaluation systems and foster sustainable change.
